Shavonne oversees day-to-day operations for Early Head Start and Head Start programs on the Historic and Patrick F. Taylor campuses. She has held several positions over 10 years; including a direct classroom Teacher and Director of Community Based Services. Shavonne believes that early education has a vital role in a child’s future outcome.
Her career spans over 15 years in Education. Shavonne has a Master of Art in Educational Leadership, Bachelors of Arts in Child Development Family studies, and Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Shavonne enjoys traveling and gathering with loved ones.

Mr. Bruce, as his students call him, is one of the newest members of the team. He has served in the United States Marines and Florida Army National Guard. He earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in elementary education, and has nearly 30 years of teaching experience. Bruce taught in elementary education for 12 years near Jacksonville, Florida, and 13 years in St. Charles Parish at St. Rose Elementary.
In his two years before joining our Head Start team, Bruce taught in southeast China!! He is excited to ‘come home’ to our historic campus because he grew up in the St. Thomas housing project, and learned to swim in the Kingsley House swimming pool.

Kiandre has a strong desire to maximize her impact on students and the community. She loves being in service of the students, families, teachers and staff and is dedicated to utilizing her leadership skills to continue the school’s record of excellence.
Kiandre is in her 8th year in the early childhood education field. She holds a Bachelor of Art in Child Development and Family Studies, and an Associate Degree in Care and Development of Young Children. She is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work from Southern University at New Orleans. Her mission is to provide an excellent education for every student, regardless of socioeconomic status or background.
Kiandre also utilizes her leadership skills outside of the school day as she operates a nonprofit organization to expand members’ knowledge and love of dance, while increasing their self-esteem and service in the community.
Michelle is both passionate and committed to Early Childhood Education. Michelle joined the education team as an intern in 2014. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Southern University at New Orleans in Child Development and Family Studies and a Master of Science from Walden University in Human and Social Services, with a specialization in Family Studies and Intervention.
She has held many positions at Kingsley House including Early Head Start Caregiver, Head Start Lead Teacher, and Supervisor in Training. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Tau Upsilon Alpha Human Services Honors Society, and Louisiana Head Start Association. Michelle and her son reside in Gretna.

Christina utilizes developmental assessment data to create professional development trainings that supports our teachers’ implementation of best practices. With over 20 years of early childcare experience, she has developed a wealth of knowledge and implemented it within her many roles with the organization. Christina has a Bachelor of Art in Child Development and Family Studies and an Associate Degree in Care and Development of Young Children.

Mulkina is a New Orleans native who shares that her calling, love, and passion for educators, children and families is why she is an early childhood educator. Her 15-year career has included working as an Infant, Toddler, and Pre-K teacher, Education Supervisor and most recently she was promoted to ELS Program Assistant-Enhancer. She is eager to assist the program in all areas regarding high-quality early childhood education and training. Ms. Coates loves her new role to enhance the program and celebrate successes throughout the year.
Ms. Coates credentials include her Associates of Applied Science Degree in Care and Development of Young Children from Delgado Community College, an Administrative Credential, an Ancillary (Early Childhood Teacher Level V) from the Louisiana State Department of Education, Child Development Associate (Preschool and Infant-Toddler). She is currently a student at Southern University with a major in Child Development and Family Studies. Ms. Coates has presented several CDA Conferences for Delgado Community College and sits on the Care and Development of Young Children Advisory Board. Ms. Coates led a team of educators at EDUCARE New Orleans to achieve the NAEYC Accreditation.
Mulkina’s favorite color is purple (lilac and periwinkle) and she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, shopping, DIY craft projects, reading inspirational and financial books.

Chantè leads the health services team for both Early Learning Services and Adult Day Care. Her healthcare experience spans from clinical nursing to healthcare administration. She specialized in the areas of cardiology and emergency medicine. She has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Xavier University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Southeastern Louisiana and a Master of Health Administration from Louisiana State University Shreveport. She is responsible for implementing and monitoring health programming for our Early Learning Services division. Chantè is eager to merge her passion for health with her love for community to enrich the lives of the participants in our programs.
Certifications Include: Louisiana Childcare Healthcare Consultant, Certified Lactation Counselor, Certified First Aid and CPR Instructor
Sylvenie loves working with children. She has over 40 years’ experience supporting families of children with disabilities. Ms. Carriere collaborates with early intervention partners to provide needed special services to enrolled children with disabilities. She also assists the teaching staff with inclusion and reaching the identified goals and objectives for each child, provides training and resources for families, facilitates a Disability Support Group, tracks special services as indicated on IFSP/IEP’s and prepares children and families for successful transitioning to kindergarten.
A native New Orleanian, born and raised in the 9th ward, Sylvenie attended G. W. Carver Junior/Senior High School, graduated from Xavier University and completed post graduate studies at Delgado, UNO and Tulane universities. She has been married for 36 years to a wonderful man, has two grown adult children, and enjoys reading Native American novels, sewing, dancing and taking nature walks in the park.
Suzanne has more than 15 years of project management experience. She serves as the Director of Family Services. She joined the team in 2014 as the Educare New Orleans Family Support Manager and gained her understanding and appreciation of the two generation, whole family approach through their initial implementation. She leverages this experience in her current role as she establishes and cultivates community partnerships, recruits and supervises parent volunteers, provides direct supervision to Family Advocates, works collaboratively with the new workforce development staff and administers the Financial Literacy training program to our families. She holds a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management.
Joycelyn is an educator, advocate and activist for children and families. She serves as the manager for the Parents as Educator home-based option for the Early Head Start program. She is a native of New Orleans, and a graduate of the public school system. She graduated from Dillard University, one of New Orleans leading HBCUs, and earned a masters from Walden University.
She has spent her entire career in service for children and families and firmly believes that working with children is her calling and divine ministry. Joycelyn is the proud mother of a son and a daughter and blessed to be a grandmother of three gorgeous grandsons, who range from the ages of 28 to 3 years old. The three all have huge pieces of her heart, but that last one has her over the moon.
Kesha is a New Orleans native and former Kingsley House Head Start participant. She is a registered social worker and an alum of Southern University at New Orleans. With over 14 years of social service experience in a variety of settings working with diverse clients, Kesha joined Kingsley House in 2015 with a strong passion to serve children and families. Kesha now leads a team of family advocates with a determination to empower, advocate and transform lives of the whole family.
